Travelling with a toddler

The rumour is true it does get so much easier when your little one gets three years old. On one hand she gets easier to handle and on the other hand you get more relaxed as a first time parent too!

My little bundle of Joy is going to be 3 in June and we can do so much more together!

I loved travelling before baby and when I gave birth I was just worried about a numerous factors and I thought I had to give upon travelling. I know now it is possible to travel everywhere and enjoy it but I need to change my mindset. I need to be much more relaxed about my little one’s routine and meals. Yes she is going to eat crap and will not go into bed in time. But hey isn’t it what we all do during holiday?? So just accept it and roll with it. They will get back to routine in 2 days or even less when you are back to normal.

Last week we traveled to Bordeaux (France) and she was so good. Well she is an experienced traveller. We fly quite a lot with her. Starting with the regular visits to grandma in Hungary and I insist to have a trip at least one sunny country per year.

It was my significant 40th birthday last week and I could not risk it to have a picnic in the rainy cold London so we visited the sunny south of France to be exact Bordeaux. It was a perfect choice. This city offers  everything I love: nice cakes and pasties, marvellous wine, sun, sea is only 40 minutes train ride away, culture, nice architecture. What else do you need? Oh yes stuff for kids…They have plenty of playgrounds and museums with child friendly activities and carousels nearly everywhere. The sandy beach as a sand pit or  the vineyards to play hide and seek are also great entertainment for toddlers. We also rented a fantastic airbnb with loads of toys so as a result my little one did not want to come home.  As a downside she did not want to go to bed ealry but it  actually came handy as our flight was delayed 3 hours on the way there (due to strikes in France) and 2 hours on the way back (due to technical issues with the flight)  so we got in pretty late both time. We also did not want to go home ealry from our day trips and luckily she was happy to stay out as long it was possible. The only thing I missed is to have a glass of wine out doors while the sun slowly goes down. But last evening the sun was shining on our airbnb’s lovely balcony which also had  a great view over Bordeaux and this wish came true as well. It was just perfect for me and for my little girl too. I wish we had spent there more time!

Oh and my little one have post holiday blues too just like me. She had a proper meltdown on the morning when I said to her we were coming home. She loved our airbnb so much! Then she was very silent in nursery the next day and crying a lot when arrived home. Actually she did not want to come back to the flat from nursery. She just wanted stay outdoors. But 2 days later I can report that everything is back to normal and she is back to her usual happy self and we had a fantastic day together today.
